I’ve had a venison roast in my freezer from a hunter friend of ours for a while now. So, I finally decided to make something of it. I’m happy to say that this recipe was a hit! (I’ve tried others, but none were keepers like this recipe is.)
5 yr. old Jada even asked for more, which I truly could not believe as she doesn’t even eat much meat! And my father-in-law,who doesn’t like deer meat, couldn’t believe that it was deer and said that it tasted just like a beef roast.
So, anyways, here it is:
Crockpot Venison Roast
- 2-3 lbs boneless venison roast
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/2 pkg dry onion soup mix (or homemade version!)
- 1 can cream of celery soup
Make sure the meat is cleaned well, and put in crock pot. Place onions on top of and around the roast. Add soy sauce, Worcestershire, garlic powder and pepper.
In a separate bowl, combine the onion soup mix, cream of celery soup, and 1/2 c. water (optional); mix well. Pour over roast and set crock pot on low. Cook for approx. 6 hours.
The gravy is good served with mashed potatoes or rice. Enjoy!
