Once baby Xia and I were all cleaned up, we went back into the bedroom to get checked over. They checked baby out thoroughly. They weighed her: 7 lbs 8 oz. They measured her: 19 3/4 in. They made sure that her shoulder wasn’t injured and that everything looked good!
Titus woke up while the ladies were still checking Xia out. I heard Jerry bringing him in to see her. He was saying, “Baby sister’s home!” He was so excited that she was here.
Next they checked me for tearing to see if I needed stitches. “Stitches?” I said. “Do you numb for that?” They assured me they would. But we were all surprised to find that I hadn’t torn! I don’t know how in the world I lucked out like that. Doesn’t mean I wasn’t sore though!!
Amy wrapped little Xia up really well and we laid her in her bed on top of my bed. While finishing up, Vicky got a phone call from another lady who was in labor. Amy and Vicky quickly gathered their stuff up, gave me my final instructions, and headed out the door for their next delivery.
It was just us. I laid in bed next to Xia and slept while Jerry took Titus into the kitchen for breakfast. A couple of hours later Jada woke up, having no idea that any of this has occurred. Jerry fed her breakfast, and then he brought her in to see me.
As she walked in through the bedroom door I turned the video camera on. I had to catch her reaction on camera when she realized that her baby sister was there in the bed with me. Rather than me try to describe her priceless expression, I thought you’d enjoy watching the video for yourselves! (Sorry the quality isn’t so great.)
The kids were so excited to finally be able to see her.
Even though the whole birth didn’t exactly go as I’d imagined, I would not have traded the way we did it for anything else. Every part of the experience was made so much more peaceful from being in the comforts of my own home. Even considering the complication, the whole delivery was much easier. I only pushed for 30 minutes, compared to the 3 hours with the other two! That was great.
I have to praise the Lord again for bringing our baby girl safely into this world. He is so good to love us so much when we are so undeserving. This beautiful child is such a blessing to our family, and I am ever so grateful for her!
Welcome to our family baby girl! We love you so very much!
