DIY Natural Face Powder Foundation Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 - 3 ½ tblsp. arrowroot powder or cornstarch
  • ½ to 1 tsp. cinnamon or cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp. gold mica dust powder for a summer glow - optional

Instructions

  • Combine all of the ingredients together in a bowl.
  • Gently rub a test patch on the inside of your upper arm to see if the shade is a good match for your skin tone.
  • If the shade test did not prove to be a match, add more cinnamon or cocoa powder SLOWLY, and do another test patch. It is best to make only a half batch of the DIY natural face powder foundation the first time if your skin is pale. You can add color to your original batch but you cannot take it away.

Notes

You can get arrowroot powder here, and bentonite clay here.
These measures are fairly exact amounts for women with a light to medium skin tone. If your skin is a darker shade or pale, you may need to play around with increasing the amounts of cinnamon or cocoa powder.
If you can find Zinc oxide and prefer the ultra smooth look of the “minerals” type cosmetic face powder sold at the store, you can substitute it for half of the called for amount of arrowroot powder or cornstarch.
Store the homemade natural foundation makeup in a glass jar with a firm fitting lid until you are ready to use.
When stored properly and kept free from moisture, it should remain shelf stable for at least 12 months. Every time the jar is opened the DIY makeup is being exposed to moisture, especially if it is stored and used in a bathroom.
