Here’s a giveaway I can get really excited about! New Life on a Homestead has teamed up with Of The Field to offer one lucky reader a FREE wild foraging value pack by my favorite foraging author, Linda Runyon!

The Wild Food Knowledge Package includes:

  • The Essential Wild Foods Survival Guide
  • Wild Food Identification Guide
  • Wild Cards (one of my favorites!)
  • Linda Runyon’s Master Class DVD

This entire package has a retail value of $62.50 when purchased as a set, and is over $80 worth of materials when purchased separately.

And for a limited time, Of The Field is offering an exclusive coupon code for 12% off any product site wide! Just enter NoEndYet at checkout. As an additional bonus, you will receive an Solar Dehydrator Compilation PDF with any purchase.

Personally, I own The Essential Wild Foods Survival Guide and Linda’s Wild Cards (if you’ve been reading my blog you’ve heard me mention both of these resources in the past). One of my absolute favorite things about The Essential Wild Foods Survival Guide is that there is a whole section in the book full of recipes for cooking with wild foods; from soups and salads, sides and light meals, breads, sweets, and drinks, even advice on how to preserve wild edibles for long term storage, Linda tells you everything you need to know to get started cooking with wild foods.

I always recommend these resources to anyone interested in learning to identify edible wild foods, and I’m super excited to have an opportunity to offer one of you a chance to win your very own copies!

Ready to get in on the giveaway??

I’ll make it easy. Simply visit Of The Field and check out their products. Then come back here and tell me which one you like, and why it interests you.

For BONUS ENTRIES, share this giveaway on your blog, facebook, twitter, or whatever social media venue you prefer. Leave me a comment telling me each place you’ve shared, and I’ll throw your name in the hat that many times.

I’ll choose one random winner on Oct. 1st. Open to US and Canadian residents.

Best of luck to you all! Whoever wins this package is getting a real treat. And a big thanks to Of The Field for supplying such an awesome giveaway!

  1. the essential wild food survival
guide would be the book i would choose. I have always wanted to know
what you can eat and what you cant. I meant you never know when something might happen and it comes down to have to eat plant of nature and I would reither be safe then sick. Plus I have a 5 year old that I could teach him as well. He doesnt have a father figure to teach him these types of thing so this book would be very helpful.
Thank you for the chance to win.

  2. The Wild Cards and the Wild Food Identification Guide would be great. I like the thought of the cards so easy to carry with you when out looking. It would be interesting going on wild foraging trips.

  3. Definitelly the “guides package”. I go out in the woods behind our house and collect wild food for my new wife (13 days and counting :)) and I to eat. She is skeptical that I know what I’m doing so having some literature on the subject might give her some more confidence in trying new wild foods with me

  4. I really liked the “Wild Food Identification Guide.”
As a public school superintendent, I think that it could be used in an after-school supplemental course. My school children would love something like this.
    Beautiful products!
    KT

  5. I love all the books, but “A Survival Acre” looks really Awesome!! I shared this giveaway on Facebook, Google Plus, Pinterest, and Twitter.

  6. Like the cards…excellent for my survival pack! Took a desert survival class from Larry Dean Olsen over 30 years ago. Still eating weeds! Shared on Facebook.

  7. This is great! We have been learning about eating wild foods to forage on. The Essential Wild Food Survival Guide would be a muched loved addition to our library on how to DIY guide!

    Thanks for the chance!

  8. I have always been interested in foraging, but afraid to try. I never knew there was so much information out there about the subject. Winning this would definitely give me the confidence I need to “hit the woods”. If I don’t win, I may just have to get the “Whole Enchilada package”.

  9. I would love “The Essential Wild Food Survival Guide”. I think it would be a great additional to my preparedness library. Living in the mountains of Maine this book would be handy in my search for food.

  10. I am most interested in The Essential Wild Food Survival Guide. I love the idea of foraging, but am scared of eating something toxic! This would be a very helpful guide.

  11. It would be between wild cards and the whole enchilada package. Wild cards seem the most useful on walks and hikes, and would be good to get children interested as well. However, if I had the cash, I’d go for the whole enchilada. I like the ideas of recipes in the guides and would love to read a survival acre.

  12. I visited “Of the Fields” and to be completely honest I was very interested in all of the products there! I think my top one would be the Essential Wild foods survival guide. We are very intersted in wild foods here at our house but I have never read her book yet and I would love to. My daughter and I are trying to learn just as much as we can about wild foods.

  13. I love “A survival acre” for its isolation of 50 important food sources that grow naturally, making them very useful for permaculture. An acre of land is easier to find and fund in most areas than larger homesteads. I’ve also cross-posted this offer on Facebook and Google+. I love your blog and all of these books and resources!

  14. I’ve been wanting a field guide with good pictures! Any of the items on her site would be fabulous to own. I’d love to win the kit you are giving away. That’s probably my favorite on the site.

  15. I have the Wild Cards on my wish list already. But, I also like the wild foods identification guide. Of course, I wouldn’t say no to the whole enchilada!!

  16. My 11 year old would love the Wild Food Survival Guide and Wild Cards. We have been walking in the woods all summer with a edible weeds guide book checked out and rechecked out from the library many times!

  17. New fan here: came across you looking for resources on dehydrating foods.

I’d choose the Survival on an Acre book. Eat the Trees looks interesting though!

  18. What an awesome giveaway! I would love this package but when looking at the website the thing that caught my eye is the Homestead Memories Tales from the Road less taken. It caught my eye because I think I could relate. Not necessarily on the homesteading but definitely in traveling the road less traveled so it sounds like an interesting read. Thanks again for the giveaway!

  19. The whole enchilada package is obviously the way to go. Everything item is interesting to me. If I didn’t get the whole enchilada I’d start with the essential wild food survival guide.

  20. I like The Whole Enchilada Package since it all offers tons of useful information in a variety of ways. I would never be without a reference. Of course, all by itself, Eat the Trees is different – I never thought of eating anything but fruit from a tree before.

  21. I just found your blog by someone that posted this on FP – Thank you. Very interesting information you are providing, so I will be following you now 🙂

  22. The Wild Food Survival guide would definately be of interest to me. I work in a garden but everyday I am pulling out weeds that I just know have uses to them. I would love to learn more!

  23. There were many resources I’d like to own, but if I had to narrow it down to one I’d pick The Essential Wild Foods Survival Guide since it sounds very complete at 320 pages. Also because it says the plants are found in all 50 states.

I would find this package very useful.

  24. It is hard to choose just one thing. If I did it would be Linda Runyon’s Master Class on Wild Food Survival; but I would love the whole enchilada package. You can never get enough of a good thing.

  25. The Essential Wild Food Survival Guide looks like it would go nicely in my backpack ~ but then they all look like great resources. My kids will be very interested to hear about these!

Shared on facebook & twitter as well (twitter.com/richsomething) 😉

  26. Hello! I am interested in both the Wild Cards and the Wild Food Identification Guide. I have 6 children who love spending time outdoors. I can see some Wild Food Scavenger Hunts in our future!

  27. The Whole Enchilada Package would be nice because it is a full package offering the opportunity to learning, however, I would be happy with Wild Food Knowledge Package. This would give me a good chance to learn.
Thank you for offering this giveaway.

  28. What an awesome giveaway! I looked around the site, and decided that this package is what I like best. I’ve been foraging a bit around our property and could use some help for sure. I know there are a lot of useful “weeds” that I just can’t identify. I also love the coloring book for kids!

  29. “A Survival Acre” really appeals to me. There’s food all around us, and we are so far removed from “real food” that we don’t even recognize it. I need to learn more!
Sharing on my FB page and my blog!!

  30. I would love to have the book! Another comment mentioned cards but I don’t see those?

I am always looking at the plants in the field when I go to feed the chickens and wondering if they are edible. I have identified a few of the obvious ones (plantain and purslane) but would love to delve deeper!

  31. wow! what an awesome giveaway! I have to say, the book “A survival Acre looks like a really awesome resource. And I’ve shared this on facebook! I’ve been working on a project gathering this type of information for myself for the future, as i would like to like a homesteading live… however, i’m only 15 and difenatly NOT ready to branch out on my own! This blog has been a great resource and lots of fun!
    Michaela

  32. I have never heard of this author before. I would be interested in reading her book, A Survival Acre. While we live on an acre in Northern California, we by no means have everything on our acre to survive but it is fascinating to read stories of homesteaders and their survival techniques. Sometimes I can apply some of their lessons into my own life.
    Blessings,
    Michelle

  33. These books sound like just the thing to study and have on hand. If a crisis comes upon you quickly you need to know what to eat before the crops come in!
My favorite product on the Of The Field website…The Whole Enchilada!

  34. I’d love the DVD. Some of the guides I have used only have black and white drawings of the plants. It makes it harder for me to identify some of them properly.

  35. The wild food identification guide. I would really like to learn what I can find in the wild that is edible. We live in an area with a lot of woodlands and fields.

  36. I would love the Wild Food Identification Guide! This is not something my family has practiced, but there’s no time like the present. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!

  37. These resources would be so helpful. I am interested in The Wild Food Knowledge Package. I would like having the DVD along with the print material.

  38. Wow! How I’d love to get my hands on these learning resources! We are preppers, still very much in the learning stages…I do have “other” resources, but the reading I’ve been doing on Linda Runyon’s experience and work has me “coveting” her knowledge. We also have begun doing some teaching in the churches, and I’d really like to be able to add some of the knowledge gleaned from LR.

I’m also sharing this on my favorite prepper site, but I do not do social media, so I can’t share it there.

Thank you for this give-a-way! Maybe I’ll get “lucky”?!!! 🙂

  39. _A Survival Acre_ really interests me. I would really like to read someone’s firsthand knowledge of living completely off the land.

  40. I would really love all of Linda Runyon’s books/ebooks/and cd’s-but can’t afford them all. The one that I peaked my interest was The Essential Wild Food Survival Guide. Sounds like a great Christmas gift to myself.

  41. I would love to read
    Homestead Memories
Tales from the Road Not Taken

I am very interested in finding out what wild foods are safe to eat.

  42. I would really like the whole enchilada! I think the whole idea of foraging for survival so neat. I think it would be awesome to be able to eat from the wild around my home and land.

  43. My favorite was the Essential Wild Food Survival Guide. My husband and I enjoy mushroom hunting and we have shown the kids how good dandelions can be, but we are always looking at what other edible things we can find. I’ll be sharing this on my facebook page as well.

  44. I think any book that includes the description (she) “lived off of the land in the wilderness for years, feeding her family with wild edible plants” has to be interesting.

We do a lot of local plant usage but mostly for healing and nourishing. The survival guide sounds like a good extension to the kinds of things we are interested in.

  45. If I had to pick just one book, it would be “Eat the Trees!” Linda’s words about the book and how the story came to be are inspiring.

  46. I love A Survival Acre me and my husband recently bought a acre and are trying to become self sufficient I think this book would be a remarkable asset to us and t only
    $15.00

Homesteading in the Adirondack Mountains without modern conveniences, seeking wild foods, cooking outdoors & learning basic Native American ways became the beginning of A Survival Acre.

  47. I would love to win this collection. I would live to read The Essential Wild Food Survival Guide. I have shared this on FB and on Penterest. Thanks for such a great give away.

  48. I sharr all the information I get with pretty much who ever will listen. Right now a lot of people (mom, husband, neighbors, grandparents, ect) are interested in wild food so we are all learning together.

  49. Many of the books looked great including the “The Essential Wild Food Survival Guide” and Wild Cards. I used to get into foraging as a teenager. I always said that I ate grubs and made my own tea rather than using drugs and alcohol as many of my friends. Then I went on to other things for 30 years. Within the last 5 years have been on a journey to become self-sufficient. I also began foraging again and now incorporated many wild foods into our meals. My husband came home one day and asked “Why are there flowers in my salad?” (daylilies and red clover). This package give-away would increase my library and be a welcome resource!

  50. Personally I’d like to read through the Survival Acre, but if I could pick only one thing it’d be the wild food identification guide book. I had several such books as a youngster living in Northeastern Pennsylvania, and they gave me the confidence to know I had food all around me were I to get lost in the woods.

Now I have kids of my own, living in suburbia but visiting my family up in the woods, and I don’t have those books anymore to share with my children. I’d really like to.

  51. Love the Surival Acre. We are getting ready to move from a close knit neighbor hood to a house with an acre and want to add fuit tress and a garden.
I also love learning about how useful foods are that we may not understand.

  52. The Essential Wild Food Survival Guide looks great. I’m starting a wild edibles library and all her products would fit in nicely. We eat from our yard year round. It satisfy my craving for fresh food.

  53. I think all the books look interesting, and I’m sure they have great useful information. I’d love to win the giveaway, thanks for the opportunity!

  54. Got wind of your site from Lea (thanks, Lea) The books all look very interesting but having to pick one, I’d say “A Survival Acre”. Will being coming back to read more!

  55. What an interesting package! I have been looking for books like this for a while and would love a chance to win. I think my favorite would be the Essential Wild Food Survival Guide since we do live on 19 acres…and have a variety of plants I just know can be eaten…I am just not sure which ones! LOL The other products look interesting too. Thanks for the opportunity to try them out!

  56. A Survival Acre looks so informative but so do all of the books! Thanks for the chance! Always eager to learn and prepare for my family’s safety.

  57. The Wild cards hands down! Those would be so handy to take on hiking trips, or even in my own back yard!~

I am sharing this on my blog, facebook ( Lea Wilson Eaton) and twitter( kraz4katz

awesome give away, I have been following you with google reader for quite awhile now.

    ~Lea

  58. My 9 yr old son has been trying to learn about foraging lately. We homeschool, so we encourage and try to equip them with resources that will help them discover new things. He was eating dandelions all summer. lol This package would be awesome for him!
I also shared this giveaway on my facebook page.
Thank-you so much for this opportunity!
