Taco Seasoning Recipe


Here’s the recipe for taco seasoning that we use in our home. It’s really good, and doesn’t include MSG!!

  • 1 tsp. minced dried onion
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp dried red peppers
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp oregano

Simply mix all ingredients together, and store in an airtight container. You can use it just like the store-bought packets of taco seasoning mix: Add 1 cup of water and your homemade taco seasoning to 1 lb cooked ground beef in a frying pan; simmer until thickened.

  1. Here’s a mix that makes 12 servings:

    1/4 cup red pepper flakes or chili powder
    1/4 cup ground cumin
    1/4 cup oregano
    2 Tbs cayenne pepper
    1/4 cup garlic powder
    1/4 cup onion powder
    3 Tbs salt

    Mix together, store in an airtight container for up to six months. To use, add 2 Tbs. to one pound of ground meat. Mix well & then cook. (Since this recipe doesn’t call for cornstarch you don’t add the water. You simply blend the seasoning into the raw meat & then cook.) I like this recipe because often I only want to cook a 1/2 lb. of meat, like when I’m also serving refried beans or black beans, etc. so then I only have to use 1 Tbs. of the mix.
