Being so new to this, I really have no idea when to plant what in my garden. After asking around though, I’ve heard over and over again from the most experience gardeners that they have always relied on the Farmer’s Almanac for planting dates. I bought one ($5), and it has been a huge help!
What’s great is that they also have a website, so you can go online and find the planting dates for your region. The book itself is a little more detailed though. You can find them at garden supply stores.
Just a few tips for ya:
- Know what you are going to plant ahead of time, so you are prepared before planting time comes around.
- Look on the back of the seed package to see if the seeds need to be started indoors. Some seeds need to be planted inside 4-6 weeks before being transplanted outside.
- If you find that your seeds require being started inside first, look into the almanac to find the planting date, then count back 4-6 weeks to see when you should start them inside.
- It’s good to make notes of when to plant your seeds before planting season. That way you won’t accidentally miss a planting date, and end up too late.
