Hey guys!! I’m so glad you could join me, Jill, Amy, and Megan for another fun-filled Homestead Barn Hop! It has been so inspiring visiting everyone’s homesteads and seeing what you’ve all been up to! Keep the great ideas coming!
Look at this.
Just look at this!!
This gorgeous smorgasbord of overabundance! Our cup table overflows, indeed!
Today, Jerry, the kids and I spent the day gleaning some unwanted extras from our friends’ gardens.
First thing yesterday morning, we picked green beans at our dearest neighbor’s house. And then on the way home, we saw another neighbor out in his garden. We waved hello as we went by, but he motioned for us to come over. I was hoping to get a glimpse of his garden anyways, so I was glad to stop for a visit. When we got out of the car, he smiled and said, “Let me send you home with some groceries! Do you like cabbage? How about some tomatoes…” He was so sweet. We ended up leaving with several bags full of tomatoes, squash, green peppers, onions, and cabbage.
What a blessing!!
And then that evening we went to another friend’s house to pick corn and cucumbers. Their family had had all they wanted from the garden, and were tired of picking and canning. So, we filled up our bags with grateful hearts! They also ended up sending with us more tomatoes and some banana peppers!
Bet you can guess what I’m gonna be doing today! I’ve got some work cut out for me. But believe me, you won’t hear a single complaint uttered from my lips. Sure, it’s a job to can and put up so much food. But what a BLESSING to have received so much beautiful produce! Especially since our own garden is definitely not gonna give us as much as I’d hoped for this year.
Today, I changed one of my goals in life. Not only do I want to grow enough food to sustain my family, but it is now my mission to grow enough food that I will be able to bless my friends and family with the overabundance from our garden, just as we were blessed today.
So, what’s been going on at your homestead? Link up below and share!
