This filling breakfast has quickly become a favorite in our home. The kids absolutely LOVE it. And I like that I can throw everything into one bowl, mix it up, pour it into the pan, and bake. Super easy.
Add a dash of cinnamon, top with fruit, or moisten with a little milk if you’d like.
The great thing about this oatmeal is you can flavor it a little differently every time. We’ve been making this for so long I don’t even remember where it came from, but here’s the recipe I use…
Amish Baked Oatmeal Recipe
Makes approx. 5 servings.
- 3 c. quick oats
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. milk

- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp vanilla
- Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl.

We do baked Oatmeal almost everyday literally. Here is my recipe:
-1c oil or applesauce or yogurt, or a mixture.
-3/4c sugar (the actual recipe calls for 1.5c I just dont use all of it)
-4 eggs
-4 tsp baking powder
-1 tsp salt
-1 tsp cinnamon
-1 tsp vanilla
-1/2c fresh flax seed (grind in coffee grinder)
-6c old fashion Oats
-2c milk
-3/4 c raisins (the secret ingredient lol) Without them it is very bland. with them, it is AMAZING!
I mix this up and put in fridge over night then bake at 375 in 13X9 for 30min and i actually freeze them in .6lb portions for my husband and each day he just takes them out of the freezer and either takes them with him frozen if running late (they thaw out fast and are good cold, warm, or hot) or he heats in microwave for a minute or so. YUM YUM! i usually make 2 per week just for my husband!!! he LOVES them because it is the only thing that holds him over until lunch time.
you can use chocolate chips, nuts, just about anything but we really like raisins best.
This was great! Thanks I added ripe banannas.
I made this recipe with my left over oatmeal. I blogged about it here http://welltrainedhomeschool.blogspot.com/2011/05/frugal-kitchen-left-over-oatmeal-bake.html
I linked everyone to your original post cause I made a few changes to suite my own taste but this came out great. Thanks for sharing.
I make Baked oatmeal too…But my recipe is a little different than yours….
My Recipe is:
1/2 cup butter melted
5 eggs
3/4 cup honey
Mix well then add:
6 cups Old Fashioned Oats
1 TBS and 1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 cups of milk
Mix all together well and bake at 350 for 25-30 mins in a 13×9 pan.
I also add a can of my apple syrup (which is just a chucky applesauce)and this gives it a great flavor….
I have been trying to cook more with honey than sugar…
Great post and cheers to healthy eating, Holly from TN
We made this for breakfast this morning and my girls loved it! We added chopped apples and cinnamon. It was wonderful! Thank you for sharing this recipe 🙂
I add all sorts of things…pumpkin or sugarfree applesauce instead of butter/oil (or even butternut squash)with cinnamon, and chopped apples. My girls love to dip it in yogurt for a yummy breakfast!
This looks delicious, and I cannot wait to try it. Unfortunately, I live alone. Does anyone know if it reheats well?
Amanda,
Yes, it does reheat well. We eat leftovers the next day sometimes. You can cut the recipe in half as well. It will taste the same, just be a little thinner. Still good 🙂
It does reheat well. I make a 11×15 pan at the beginning of the week and eat it all week for breakfast. You could also do it in muffin cups and freeze the others. Reheat one or two each day.
We love this too! I like to have it with company because you can mix it up the night before and just pop it in the oven in the morning. I also love add berries, nuts, apples, raisins, whatever we are in the mood for. The texture is so different from just a bowl of oatmeal. Yummmmmm!!
Yum, I put apples in mine. 🙂
